Fun Zone
One day on the streets of Brooklyn can mean the difference between life and death for a child. Because instead of turning their lives over to God, kids these days are dedicating their lives to gangs and drug dealers. It's an easy world to get caught up in when there is no one around to show them otherwise — no one there to introduce them to Jesus.
Each year during August, Metro Ministries sponsors Fun Zone for hundreds of children living in the inner city of New York. Here, boys and girls are protected from what may happen to them on the streets while learning to trust in Christ. They receive care and nourishing meals to fill them up physically and the Word of God to nourish them spiritually. It's also an opportunity for children growing up in such a harsh environment to get out of the city and, often for the first time, enjoy nature and experience summer in a serene and natural environment.
Camp Counselors Needed
Each year, we take more than 100 staff and volunteers to serve as camp counselors and activity coordinators. Applicants must be over the age of 18, willing to submit to a background check and want to make a difference in children's lives by showing them the love of God. Lodging and meals are provided. How You Can Help
Sponsors make Fun Zone possible and campers rely strictly on scholarships provided by donors from around the world. The cost per child is $85 which includes the camp experience and a Camp Care Package of items they often don't have, such as toiletries, towels and more.
